[SOLVED] When to make the switch to 1440p

So I was just wondering when you should switch to a 1440p monitor for gaming? As in which graphics card/CPU’s will support 1440p gaming my guess would be anything that’s rtx 2060 and up and I know the cpu isn’t as important when it comes to gaming so maybe like an Ryzen 3600x? I’m not sure just wondering

It also begs the question of why.

What if you're happy with your display? What if you have a good quality 1920x1080, or even 2560x1080 if you're an ultrawide enthusiast?

Even then, 1440p covers two things:
2560x1440 - standard widescreen
3440x1440 - ultrawide

34-35" 3440x1440 21:9 is the way to go if you have the budget for it, excellent for immersion.

Not necessarily. There are lower resolution monitors with incredible sharpness and clarity despite being lower in pixels per inch.

Higher pixel density can help, of course, but other aspects of a panel's design come into play.

I'm currently on a AG271QG 27" 165Hz (2560x1440) with an RTX 2070 and I'm highly impressed as to what an upgrade to my gaming / programming life it has been. I'd recommend the resolution upgrade any day. Note that my GPU is a lot more than enough for such a monitor. Probably one of my best decisions in life when it comes to upgrading my PC.

As an example of what I'm talking about - take a look at the 2017 review of the LG 34UC79G 34-inch Ultra-Wide FreeSync Monitor Review, specifically noting what they say about how the so-called "low" resolution on such a large screen isn't a problem at all.

I suggest go with 2560x1440 144Hz monitors. There are more selections for monitors and matching KVM switches from. Most of newer RTX and AMD video cards have no issues with this spec. but just a few of the KVM switches can support this. Anything higher than 2560x1440 with 144Hz , I did not see a good one in the market currently.
