When will 1080 prices drop

Does anyone know when the 1080 prices will go down? I have the money to get one, but I dont want to pay 100 to 200 more dollars, and then have the price drop like a week later. If anyone knows or has any ideas let me know.

It really depends. It took the 980Ti almost a year to drop, it launched in June of 2015 but price drops didn't happen, at least not 100-200 dollars, until the GTX 1080 came to market.

The only time I would see the GTX 1080 dropping is when AMDs Vega hits if it performs at the same level or better. If it does not then pricing will remain the same. And as far as I know AMDs Vega is slated for 1H 2017 which could be towards June 2017.

It's a pretty new card. It's not likely to drop much in a while. Maybe in a few more months if Nvidia does release a 1080 Ti, as they have done recently.

Do keep in mind Black Friday and other seasonal sales are coming, and sometimes you might find a good deal.

That's partially because they are still so new, and partially because of the messed up pricing Nvidia set up. Maybe you'll find they go a few dollars lower as prices stabilize and supply increases, but don't expect the 100 dollar difference you mentioned in your first post.

+Alive Shockwave No one knows. My wild guess is but "maybe" when the GTX 1080 Ti. I feel confident the price of the GTX 1080 (non Ti) will drop at that time. But the big question is, when will the Titanium variant be released. No idea when it'll come out and I doubt the price drop of the 1080 will be significant.

Personally I also find the x80 series to be a poor value, once the x80 Ti releases. I only like the x70 and x80 ti cards. If you currently have a 980 Ti, then I suggest that you simply hold onto that card and save your money. Whatever you end up purchasing, you could also buy a EVGA card, so you have the option of the EVGA 90 day step up program ( http://www.evga.com/support/stepup/ )

Any idea on when the 1080ti's might be coming out? If its gonna be a year or so then im just gonna get a 1080.

No one is even sure there will be a 1080Ti. They can't cut the RAM in half like they did with the 980Ti, that would be less VRAM than the 1080. The other option is to go with slower GDDR5 but a bigger memory bus and still 12GB but that would still eat sales of the Titan X. Maybe a cut down core but still same VRAM? Maybe but still would eat sales of the Titan X.

Honestly it seems like the Ti GPU would be pointless and only made to fill a niche space. The GTX 1080 Strix is the same price my 980Ti Strix was when it was the top dog, $679, so the pricing would be probably $800 bucks for a 1080Ti at launch and I don't feel would be worth it to be 10% faster than a 1080 and 10% slower than a Titan X.

^ Agreed. In my pure speculation I'm certain that the 1080 Ti will indeed be released with the Pascal architecture. There are many opinions that completely contradict my opinion. Last year the 980 Ti released 10 weeks after the Titan X (Maxwell). Based on this, I'm predicting that the 1080 Ti will be released in the US 10-12 weeks after the Titan X (Pascal). Many people do not believe this based almost off the fact that the 1080 (non Ti) has 8 GB of VRAM and the Titan X (Pascal) having 12 GB of VRAM. The middle ground would suggest that the GTX 1080 Ti would have 10 GB of VRAM, which I agree would be an odd figure. I have no predictions about the VRAM amount, but I still state that it's indeed coming out in the timeline below. The only people who know anything for certain are Nvidia and they aren't talking....

10GB would require a VRAM controller much like they did with the GTX 970 and I doubt they would want a issue like that where some of the VRAM is slower than the rest.

If it does come out I would be surprised. If it hits near November that would give it only 6-7 months of supremacy until Volta comes out, which is currently rumored to launch in May of 2017.

Well thats good to hear. I saw the price drop down for about 5 minutes and I hoped on it as fast as I could. Im super exited because my current GPU is a huge bottleneck to the rest of my PC.

Personal price prediction: $799

I made this assumption because in 2015 the 980 Ti @ $650 represented 65% of the Titan X (Maxwell) @ $1,000.
Taking the Titan X (Pascal) @ $1,200, 65% of that value would be $780. I rounded up to arrive at the $799 price point.

Agreed. I think the $159 for the Predator 240 without quick disconnects is a steal. I would definitely buy that over a Corsair H110i GTX, especially the sealed version without quick disconnects. I only wish the new 280 Rad had a sealed version.

This is why I hate rumors. Someone posts a rumor, or a faked screen cap, and it spreads to all the junk sites and people eat it up. Much like why I won't take anything from WCCFTech unless it is also posted by a known reputable site.

In fact I tend to only trust it when it comes from Toms, Anandtech, Hardware Canuks etc because those sites tend to not toil in rumors.
