When will AMD Radeon R9 290 price drop? - Graphics Cards

Solution
When the current LiteCoin boom dies down, probably once all these new cards come online (thus increasing difficulty factor), and the value stabilises.

I'm not enough of an economist to be able to guess. I would have picked they'd have dropped back somewhat by now, but it appears not.

A lot depends on the supply levels from card manufacturers, Sapphire, Diamond, ASUS etc. I'm sure they are all trying to capitalize on this spike in demand.
Right now it looks like the next wave of cards is inbound around Feb 12:

Maybe after these cards restock we'll see a drop in prices. Does someone else here has some more intel on the card supplies?

Watching ebay sales could be a good early indicator of the sale prices dropping. Unfortunately prices haven't dropped for the past 2 weeks:

I ordered this one off of amazon on January 23rd: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HWQUI02/ref=oh_deta...

They originally stated it would ship between 2/14 - 2/18. However, late last week they changed the shipping notification to the following: "We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you by email as soon as we have an estimated delivery date. You can cancel at any time."

I also checked shopblt.com this evening and saw the expected shipment within the next 10 days or so. Dying to get back to playing BF4, but at this point I'm just going to give it another 2 weeks to see how things pan out, and whether or not the order ships from amazon. If not, I might begin considering the GTX 780 (classified) if there is no new information on the R9 290 available.

and now they went up to 699$.. what a joke, no average gamer can afford these cards now. I am not a dumb bitcoin miner with a credit line dedicated to buying more and more gpus. I just wanted one r9 290 and now it is seeming to not be a possibility. Solution -> nvidia or bust.
