I am thinking about selling my 1080 on eBay for 700 then getting a 1080tu from Nvidia but they never seem to be in stock and I was wondering if anyone knew how long it usually takes them to restock.

Solution

Forget Nvidia, what about every other online shop? They're out of 1080 Ti cards. Individuals have them but they get in stock for the store(such as Amazon)and sell out very very quickly. You did click on that Auto-Notify button didn't you? What you're trying to do is pretty much doomed to fail. Sell your 1080 for $200 over retail and then buy a vanilla Nvidia card straight from them for $1 less + taxes. No bells or whistles. No dual or triple fans. No core clock at 2000MHz(1,480MHz stock with a boost clock of 1,582MHz). No 120mm AIO...

It's quite random really. Just keep reloading the page from time to time and try to go as fast as you can once they are available.

No I don’t need to really but since you can only buy to per customer on Nvidia it is targeted towards gamers and miners and other people may be willing to pay the 700 on eBay since a new card sells for about 740 last time I checked so if I sell mine on eBay then I can just use that money to get a 1080 ti on Nvidia and the price is still in there website but it says notify me instead of add to cart

I checked that multiple times every day when it was getting close to the day that I would buy one. I checked it only a few times a day before that. I started saving about 10 months ago. I didn't ever click that auto-notify button. Never did I see it in stock. I purchased my EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 Hybrid on the 7th. Now it's at least $400 more expensive because individuals are selling theirs for a profit. Flipping cards can be lucrative these days. Or is it ludicrous? Idk.

Less their fees. What about Craigslist or something similar? Selling will be the easy part. Buying is near impossible.
