I want to order a new system with Vista but I am holding back till I get Vista with their systems.

Thanks

The official release is January 30. OEMs are getting the RTM version now to prepare for the official launch. Most OEMs are offering free upgrades to Vista for purchases before January 30. XP Pro gets you Vista Business, XP MCE gets you Vista Home Premium and XP Home gets Vista Home Basic. If you want to build your own machine you can get the upgrade coupon by purchasing an OEM licence of Windows XP.

No...you have to get it now. But you'll be eligible for whatever Microsoft decides to charge to upgrade when it's released Jan 20. To get the free upgrade you need to either buy an OEM computer (Dell, HP) now or buy an OEM XP licence from a vendor like Newegg if you're building one. I think you're required to buy a piece of hardware at the same time but you can get a cheap cable or something like that. Then you can claim that you "rebuilt" your year old machine. ;)

If you're not in the USA similar deals should be available worldwide.

Thank you guys.
I appreciate your help.

I bought Dell with XP Pro preinstalled.

Any idea if I can upgradethat with Vista Ultimate and what would be approximate extra cost ?
