Where an SSD is better installed (upper cage, lower cage)

I am doing my first build, storage is 1 SSD only.
Case is Fractal's XL R2, just a Define R4 but larger.
Upper cage is removable for better airflow (no need for larger GPU), so I guess I should remove this.
But cages have 4 bays, and again I have no idea what of the 4 bays is best and why.

Doesn't matter. No heat and no moving parts. Place it for best cable management and airflow.

Should I also remove the bays I don't need, in the cage I am using? It might improve airflow a little, maybe.. and they are no use.
