1. What is your budget?

<$500

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

Average or above average

3. What screen resolution do you want?

No clue.

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

I want to be on the move with this.

5. How much battery life do you need?

As many have, I have had battery issues with them to where I have to keep them plugged in. I assume the newer models are no different?

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

I don't normally play games with my previous laptop, but I wouldn't mind playing some war games or sports games on it. I like the games where you build your own cities or armies, villages, etc. This is not a necessity.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

I was in a web development program previously. I might want to dig back into some coding and learn SQL, etc.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

I would like this to be maxed out whether I have to upgrade it myself, etc.

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

I was looking at overstock.com. I figured wal-death (walmart) or even a place like Sam's Club if they even sell them there.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

Bare minimum 3 years. Longer would be nice. The last one I had was a refurbished one and lasted about 3 years having to be plugged in all the time for most of that.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

I like to have the most options for this.

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

I've only bought Dell in the past. I'm not against trying something if it is of higher quality and same price.

13. What country do you live in?

United States

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

I used to know all of these terms from my old comp. class, I'm not even sure what the memory is up to or the processing speeds, etc. I would like something fast and durable. I'm in a broke man situation so I understand I can't have all the bells and whistles at this time.

At $500 or less, Don't expect to play many games on your laptop. Or at least new modern day games as you are probably going to need closer to $1000 if you want a laptop with a dedicated GPU in it. With that being said, I would recommend checking out lenovo laptops. You can get an Ideapad l340 with an AMD processor for $476 before tax. You can also get a L340 gaming version with a gpu for $800.
