Where are we on VR headsets?

compatibility - os/game
any worth getting, officially out or not?

I play arma 3 a good amount and I'm a pilot.
I'm currently using the hat switch on my 3d pro, but its not very fast action.
Looking to get a vr headset to fix that.

Why are they called virtual reality headsets? It is virtual, but reality? Should be called something like free vision headset or something...

Will it work with fsx arma 2 arma 3... world of war planes war thunder... don't really like WoW planes... right now I'm confused on those 2 games... thought one recently brought in tanks and the other was more of a arcade plane game.... like world of tanks.

My personal focus has been the Oculus so I'm not real up on the other platforms

PS - I like the idea of "free vision" as a descriptor (even "virtual vision") since there's no other feedback
