Pardon if this belongs in the software category.

I have 6 of the the subject drives. I read somewhere that NAS raid should be all the same drives and all the same firmware revision. The issue is, I cannot locate the subject firmware.

If anyone reading this knows where the Hitachi drive firmware repository lives, please share. Thanks.

Solution
Some people argue that a RAID should consist of dissimilar drives to maximise redundancy. They reason that choosing a bad HDD model makes the whole array unreliable. In fact I can show you a case where someone lost 4 high capacity SSDs all at once due to the same firmware bug.

Thanks for the insight. I am sure that's true. I have seem similar issues due to single point of failure. But in this case, I have to think that having the same firmware will at least make issues the same across drives even if there is a bug. It would keep me, for example, from tracking down a single drive issue when the failure is not hardware at all.
