Hi all,

I have a problem when panning; frame rate seems to drop even though the figure doesn't change. Changed the polling rate which improved it but its still present. At this point I need specialised help. Does anyone know any companies in the UK that provide gaming PC support? I'm desperate

Thank you

Solution
This may seem odd for such a beastly system, but I would recommend removing the GPU and using the integrated video controller to see how it performs. Just want to get a comparison of behavior.

Coming here and asking your questions/seeking advice is the type of support you seem to seek.

Are you looking for a local, physical presence?

What are the specs for this system?
Are you overclocking anything?
Are you drivers and games fully up to date?

Let's start here.

I am honestly looking for any help.

ASUS ROG STRIX Z390 GAMING -E
9700K
2070 SUPER
NZXT X62
32GB VENGENCE RAM
650w

and now upgraded to:

ASUS ROG STRIX Z490 GAMING -E
10900K
850w
Everything else the same. Issue happened and is happening on both setups.

Everything stock.
Drivers, bios, everything latest versions

I have also done fresh install.

Thank you for replying

What components are common between your two builds?

First build (Dec 2019)
ASUS ROG STRIX Z390 GAMING -E
9700K
2070 SUPER
NZXT X62
32GB VENGENCE RAM
650w

Upgraded to (Sep 2020)
ASUS ROG STRIX Z490 GAMING -E
10900K
850w

GPU ,RAM, Cooler & peripherals remain the same as first build. Problem exists on both builds.

Of the common components, the GPU is the likely culprit (more so than the memory). What speed is your memory and have you tested it with a tool like memtest?

I did this 30 days ago. Problem was present then too.

So remove the GPU and play games?
If yes i will do this on Saturday and get back to you. Can you let me know what i should expect to see?

Yes.

You'll not get great gaming performance, but I am curious about how panning performs with an alternate GPU, even if the integrated one.

ok i will try this weekend. its a really strange issue because although its constant its only when panning. it literally feels like the hz drops to 60 and below but only on the environment as you run past it for example in destiny 2.

and i remember when i was running my first build day one, everything worked. i could stream with obs preview enabled, i didnt need vsync, and could run on high settings but now i need to run vsync just to keep it from not permanently looking like its the cpu/gpu is struggling to handle to many operations and down clocks the graphics to do so. like when i run youtube and a game youtube runs choppy. its driving me crazy.

Quick question, ive used testing software where it stress tests all components for faults. would a fault not have shown there if there was something wrong with the GPU?
