I'd like to upgrade my current CPU to a Core i9 9900T so I can have 8 cores with 16 threads but also not break the bank. I remember there used to be 8700T's floating around on Ebay that were significantly cheaper than regular 8700's and 8700K's. But I can't find any 9700T's for sale anywhere. The only ones I could find are engineering samples on ebay which for obvious reasons I wouldn't want to get. So since the 9900T is an official Intel CPU, where does one actually get a legit one?

The 9900T is what's known as a "tray" processor intel does not sell those at retail, they are sold to OEMs like say HP or Dell or other companies that buy them in bulk. The only way to get one from my understanding is if somebody who for some reason has one of those tray processors decides to sell it on ebay or the like.

The MSRP of a 9900T is the same as a regular 9900. Those cheap 8700Ts floating around on Ebay were probably engineering samples, which means they're cheap because they're more or less stolen property.

In conclusion, it doesn't matter whether the processor is U or T or H or K, the price difference is maybe $40 from the normal processor(without letters).
