Where do I find old computers?

I need to know where to find some old computers for very cheap or free! I've already check all my local schools. I am looking for broken or very old ones just to tinker with and take apart.

Look in local business dumpsters (seriously)
Goodwill/Salvation Army
Pawnshops

There will be a few 'redundant' computers hitting a sidewalk near you around the 26th of this month.
Often they have no hard drive but run.

Don't need a hard drive just to tinker remember!

A Linux LiveCD should be in your toolbox.
You can run a PC with no internal drive, directly off that LiveCD.

And for protection purposes, you should do that with any unknown PC.

Re-instating a machine with a removed hard drive to fully operational is very helpful moving towards the skills you wish to learn,I guess is the best way I can put it.

Are there any good in dept tutorials for this?

I'm sure you can find multiple 'videos' on this.

However....if you need a video to follow, maybe this is not for you.

I think I covered tutorials with the 'not working pc boxes,screw drivers, nothing to lose,open chrome page in the background' scenario.
There are no shortcuts, most of the 'techies' I meet have some system course from M/Soft or other and are next to useless with hardware.
