Where do you connect your internet connection from the street?

I'm looking at a new router. The Asus AC3100 RT-AC88U. I'm sure i am definitely missiing something here. Im wondering where I connect the router to the internet cable from the street. I was thinking its the WAN port, but i need to use that for a VOIP phone... Do voip phones only use the WAN or LAN port on the router?

VOIP phones use a LAN port. WAN would only be used to connect to your internet connection (cable modem, DSL modem, etc.)
