Thats because the signal level is a NEGATIVE 89 to 94! Thats damn near in
the noise! The HIGHER the number, the WORSE it is. Any receiver that can
make use of a signal below -80 is doing quite well.

I have numbers around -85 to -90 at home all the time and have no
problems making and holding calls.

My phone is displaying 3 bars right now and what I am assuming is signal
strength (it is labeled "RxPower") ranges from -089 to -096. I moved it by
the window and it had 4 bars and the value increased to -080

same levels here but does your 4500 drop calls at that level or no?

Funny thing about using "bars" as an indicator - doesn't seem to be too
reliable on the LG VX4500. A friend and I drove thru a well known problem
area. She had the VX4500 in one hand and the a650 in the other. The a650
"bars" seemed to be more accurate regards to signal strength (calls are not
dropped at one bar or even no bars). The change in bars was more linear as
you passed in and out of the weak spot.

The VX4500 never showed less than two bars, usually three, but then seemed
to drop off the cliff suddenly to zero, and her phone has trouble dropping
calls in this area.
