where does my file download to

i have a 120gb ssd with os on it and a 2 tb hdd for games etc. i dont want to have that many files on my ssd. say if i save a document to desktop, will it take up ssd space? or hdd?

If you save files to the desktop, or to folders on the desktop, it will take up space on whichever drive the OS is installed on unless there is only a shortcut on the desktop that points to a folder located on another drive. The desktop itself is part of the C:/ drive so whichever drive you have the OS installed on, is the desktop.

You can designate downloads to be directed to any folder you want on any drive. Just go into your browsers settings and specify where you want to save them.

you can actually move your "my documents" folder to your hdd and off the ssd as well to save space. once it is changed everything works like normal except the folder is not on your c: anymore. i do this myself to save space for programs on that drive. most folks use this folder so your pics and such are all sitting on your c: taking up space unless you already manually moved them
