ok, i just installed my win2k pro, and im tyin to find the files that is most like MSCONFIG on win98, only what is it on win2k?

its part of win98 that lets yo open win.ini, autoexec.bat, startup (including hidden startup files), config.sys and system.ini

Um, I don't think Win2k has something like that. The closest thing I can think of is Computer Management (should be in your start menu)

neither of those helped..... maybe if i borught MSCONFIG over to the win2k system itll work....

There is no MSCONFIG in win2k! Do you need help with some start-up stuff or are you just trying to make your life easier by using the MSCONFIG front end?

i was gonna bring it from my 98 box, im making life easier..... neither startup or the reg keys (from brianlam's post) help. I assume u know how msconfig helped get rid of hidden window's startup processe in 98..... thats what im trying to do here.

so basically there is no other way? because i have installed some plextor software that runs at startup, but i dont always need it and just would rather go and manually start it rather then have it sit there

nevermind. i brought over msconfig and it worked, i couldnt open config.sys and the such but i dont care, i was able to get rid of hidden startup programs *sticks tounge out, the runs like hell*
