where is my bottleneck?

Ok im looking to upgrade my rig and on a budget of around $600 at that

I have an Am3 board

quad core 3.0ghz cpu

radeon hd 7750

8 gb ram


Im looking at a couple options here

OPTION 1
I keep this rig and put all my money into a kickass video card

Option 2
I get a 8 core 4.0ghz cpu motherboard combo for 300
and a video card for around 200
then use whats left to get a power supply
(salvaging the ram and harddrive from my rig)

Option 3
I go a little cheaper with the motherboard cpu combo and get a 6 core 3.5 ghz for like $199
then use the rest for a graphics card and power supply
(salvaging ram and hard drive from the old rig)


what's my better choice?
Right now im leaning Number 2 for the sake of longevity. that and I reaaaaaaaaaaly want the 8 core for some reason.

I would go option 4. Sell the pc whole, and build a new one using whatever toms $1000 build is next time.

I wonder if it would be possible to sell the rig for more then the cost of the parts I want?
