Hey guys at Tom's Hardware. I have a question for you that I would be glad to get answered.

I've bought an Acer Aspire V15 laptop 2 weeks ago and since then I installed couple games and other things. I checked how many space I have left in the 1 TB built-in HDD and I was surprised, that I have only 180GB of space remaining. I calculated every single folder in the HDD, using properties option and the thing that surprised me the most, was that about 190GB of space is MISSING. Yes, I have enabled the system to show invisible folders before calculating and I added the free space as well.

Solution
OEM Computers almost always have a hidden, to the OS, recovery partition. This includes a boot utility and a complete backup of the original Windows installation, drivers, and pre-loaded software.

Launch the diskpart utility
list disk
select disk
list partition
OR
detail disk

Other things:

System Restore Points, might check to see if that is enabled.
Hiberfil.sys (reserves space equal to your system memory and virtual memory)

So this is competely normal that 190GB of space is just taken? I was pretty desperate :)

Thanks man :) My 190GB of space remaining became 356GB by pressing one button.
