Question Where is my SSD located and can I add another one ?

I have a GIGABYTE Z790 GAMING X AX motherboard. Not very clued up on motherboards and i don’t know where my SSD is located. More importantly i need to add another, is it possible?

Looks like you have four M.2 slots for M.2 SSDs and six SATA ports for 2.5" SSDs. You can add as many as you need.

You can fit up to four M.2 NVMe SSDs into slots with IDs starting M2. You can fit up to six 2.5In SATA SSDs or hard disks to the ports on the front edge labelled SATA3.

Best guess is your current drive is plugged into slot M2A_CPU between PCIEX16 and the CPU. An M.2 drive is roughly the size and shape of a stick of chewing gum.

I’ve got a 1tb samsung 980 pro ssd, just ordered the same brand but a 4tb version. So it will fit in the M.2 slots near the PCIe slots?

yes it will fit fine.

it fits in the top one next to cpu cooler it will fit in the other ones as well but the fastest one is usually next to cpu cooler.
