The explanation for getting a stuck mouse out of Virtual Machine desktop says "click on the VMware Workstation icon". Where IS the VMware Workstation icon ?? Why can't the explanations be more explicit and actually explain how to get to the start point ?
The description about preventing the mouse from getting stuck on the Virtual Machine desktop is pointless when it makes the [incorrect] assumption that everyone knows where this icon is. There doesn't appear to be any such icon on my Windows XP Virtual Machine desktop, unless it is hidden somewhere on the root drive C:\
Perhaps some-one could give a better explanation, in plain English, of how to solve this problem

That does bring to mind the fact that you should install the VMware tools on the client OS - otherwise that icon will not be there (of course the icon is for Windows clients) and the client system will probably be unhappy about switching out of full screen mode.
Well, that is if the virtual machine is running in windowed mode or has the host menu present. It sounds like you are running the virtual machine in full screen mode. You should be able to switch the mouse out of the virtual machine (and hopefully show the host top bar) by pressing CTRL + ALT. This should switch the virtual machine to windowed mode and out of full screen mode.

If you want to switch back to full screen mode without using the top menu, you can use CTRL + ALT + ENTER.

This works on VMware Workstation 5.0 and above (unless the key combos have been remapped).

The VMWare Workstation icon is the symbol in the system tray that says "VM" on it. It's in the lower left hand side of your screen by the clock
