I thought I read somewhere that you could get an NPC to point the way to
another NPC. Does anyone remember seeing this somewhere and if so what's
the /command for it. It would make finding quest NPCs a lot easier.

Right click on any guard and choose Find NPC. A box will come up and you
can type in the name of the npc you're looking for.

If you're talking about EQ1, there are certain NPCs that can do this,
for example the Guides in Gukta. Most NPCs do not have this capability.
You just have to find the right one.

Or, in most city-type zones, you can use the "Find" command to achieve the
same effect.

If you're talking about EQ2, then I dunno.

Please don't toppost here.

As someone else pointed out, rightclick on a guard, and select Find NPC
from the menu, then enter the name in the box that pops up, and click the
find button. If the guard can help you, a mystical path will appear to
guide you.

All guards have this option called "find NPC". Offten it does not work,
means you should find NPC by yourself. Wehn it works golden myst trail
will guid you to NPC.

Anyone know if there is a way to copy the name into the box or click on the
name in the journal somehow? Some of these names are pretty complicated.

Excellent question/suggestion...have you tried alt+c to copy and alt+v to
paste? I'm at work so I'll try when I get home. Trying to type in NPC
names like Second Lieutenant Squatty McFloppypants of
Dinglydell-by-the-Shire sure gets to be a pain.

While it's not always the case, if you have the current quest
highlighted, it will show up in the upper-right-hand corenr and say
something like "I need to find My. Mxyxptlk in South Queynos". This
makes it easy to type into the "Find NPC" box.

I was able to just type part of the name and get directions..... but only
when it was unique. I just put in "carpenter" and was led to the carpenter
in Graystone.

Also, if you are a long way away from the npc you are looking for, there is
a good chance that the guard doesn't know them..... keep trying guards and
when you get close they will help you.

Would not be likely to help much, as the name in the quest journal often
does not exactly match the name of the NPC. For example, I needed to speak
to a Sir somenameorother according to the quest journal, but, his name is
actually Knight-Lieutenant someoneorother. Usually if you type in the name
portion, that is enough anyway, but not always.

Default in windoze is ctrl-c and ctrl-v. I'd be surprised if it worked
in game though.

Others have answered. I'll just add this: You only need to type in the
first 4 characters of the NPC's name.

If the name doesn't work, try the first 4 characters of their title. For
instance, if you know he's a weaponsmith, if using the name doesn't work,
try "weap."

That being said, NQ guards are notoriously stupid, and any time they shrug I
put words into their mouth..."I don't knoooow" in the most retarded way I
can. Makes me feel better and I don't wish QUITE so much that I can't
attack and kill the idiot. :)
