Where the heck is the hurricane?

7:30am Eastern time. Storm is crashing into New Orleans. Real world
weather shows nothing. What is the point of this useless feature?

sigh.... we have this convo every time a hurricain hits the states. Infact
theres a post a few hours ago on the subject.

1: the weather stations in the area are CLOSED... The airports. So they arnt
reporting the info

2: FS2004 weather has its limits, once the real world goes over them you
will get nice weather.

To simulate the hurricane as best I could without real weather, I put my
plane in "slew" mode and hit the left arrow key.

Well we know sort of what it's like in a hurricane, what sort of metar
would you have to plug into ASV to create those conditions ?

I've never fiddled with changing the strings, wouldn't know where to
start.

Cheers

Sure ;-)
It's obviously a 24 hrs forecast for KNBG (whatever that is..) valid from
28th, 21:00 UTC till 29th, 21:00 UTC
Without decoding all the details it shows that the first winds are expected
to be from north-east at 15-25 KTS, increasing gradually to the peak value
of 145-175 KTS between 15 and 16 UTC on 29th.
After that there's a short calm period from 16:30 to 18:30 UTC with
extremely low pressure of 26.63 to 26.68 in.hg. (the EYE of the hurrican),
thereafter winds will turn to westerly increasing again to 140-160 KTS.
It clearly describes the passage of a hurrican on a northerly course.

Don't worry. I just tried to put it into a more understandable form without
decoding each and every item. But anyway it's the longest TAF I've ever seen
to date and extremely impressive. :)
