Where to buy Asrock TPM module 2.0?

It is a chip/module that is plugged into the mobo & From my understanding it acts as a lockbox for passwords, keys and various things like that. It can also generate keys as well.

It can not be hacked as it keeps a secret part of it inaccessible to software.

Hi Doll,

Security is rarely about knowing who will hack you, it's about stopping it before it happens. I don't know who'd steal my bike, but I still want a U-Bolt lock protecting it. The same could be said for my data. I can go up to virtually any Windows computer, plug in a flash drive, and do whatever I darn well please with their files without the slightest concern for what their password is. A BitLocker encrypted system would just show a pile of encrypted noise on the drive (their files would be secure). Sure this also works with TrueCrypt or VeraCrypt without extra hardware but they don't t have support for GPT partitions and it's a pain across reboots, especially remote reboots. TrueCrypt or better still VeraCrypt is in-arguably more secure, but they're more annoying. A TPM is required for Bitlocker operation on a boot drive.

Thanks,

Hi Grey Wizard,

I'm also still interested. I had started to contact their support and then didn't have my serial number handy. I'm not at home today, but my wife is going to e-mail me the serial number off the box. I've already written the message and have it saved, I'll leave this browser tab open and will reply back here when I get a usable answer.

Thanks,
Christian Blackburn

Did you get an answer from ASRock support about the 2.0 TPM module?

Yes they said that the TPM 2.0 will not be available in the US - which kind of sucks, but I suppose you can always order it from overseas. They didn't give a reason why or a release date for the 2.0

It's a year later, but hopefully this can still help some people who stumble upon this:
You can now buy the newer TPM v2.0 18-1 (18 minus 1 = 17 functional pins) in the US on amazon, tigerdirect and ebay. The Asrock part number is HA-TPM2-S though some retailers may not use that. The chip itself is Nuvoton NPCT650

There were other retailers too like superbiz and provantage that carried them but they are out of stock and may not restock.
