If you are only concerned with gaming you could easily get away with a 9700K. The i9 lineup is pretty darn expensive for what you get. The i7 9700K will be PLENTY for games for a long time. The only real reason to get the 9900K is if you have work loads that can take advantage of the 16 threads, the vast majority of games won't. The only other reason is for bragging rights... and that is a steep price for bragging rights.

@justin.m.beauvais, Agreed, there's not much to change besides that 9900K, maybe the case & PSU but there's not much more.
