Hi,

I recently formatted the hard drive on my PC and decided that now would be a good time to upgrade to windows 8.

I've seen that I can download an ISO on my laptop, put that onto a flash drive, then boot from the flash drive on my PC to install windows 8.

Note, that I do not want windows 8 on this machine (my laptop) only on my PC.

How do I go about this and where can I get this ISO from in the UK?

Thanks.

If you download the Upgrade to your Laptop the Upgrade Assistant will link it to your Laptop, as it will check for a qualifying OS. To upgrade your PC you will have to re-install and activate a qualifying OS. Not found any ISOs yet, but you can order the disks from Amazon etc. for around £49.99

While it is most likely against the EULA a friend of mine had just got a new Asus laptop and used the $14.99 upgrade offer. After the download he formatted his Windows 7 desktop and installed it on the desktop and it worked just fine fully activated and did not give him any problems at all. Of course that means he lost his upgrade for the laptop. But the desktop is the one he really wanted Windows 8 on anyway but being a custom build he could not use it for the upgrade though the upgrade adviser.

Don't quite see why he didn't just upgrade the desktop when 7 was installed? All he had to do was apply for the $14.99 upgrade and apply the promo code when asked for by the Upgrade Assistant. In other words what he did was quite within the rules, but he may run the risk of invalidating his Laptop licence as that was the one the upgrade was based on...
