Hi all, I know there are PCI-E cards for USB 3.0, but my only PCI-E slot is taken up by a graphics card. I only have 1 PCI slot left. I looked through cards on Newegg but could not find the right one.
Can anyone find me the right part?, I need more USB ports on this dell!!!!. Thanks

Solution
Are you sure you have PCI?
From the images I can find online, there are traces on that motherboard for PCI, but it's more common to have PCIe x16 and PCIe x1 slots?

Much cheaper route to go if you have an x1 slot:

Hi @mynameisjoe1

What mobo does your Dell have? (Or just the model of your Dell) as here is an example of a USB 3.0 PCIe card. (Not the same type of PCIe as your GPU) The more ports the more $. Is your current GPU blocking the other PCIe slot or is it an old-skool white PCI slot?

If you aren't sure the model of your Dell, take a pic of the inside so we can see what you have as far as expansion slots & the like.

More info please.

What Dell do you have?

I'm only aware of one PCI-USB3 card, from Startech... and it's not cheap (like >$50).

It's a Dell Inspiron 3670, just got it 3 months ago. And yes, it's the old school white slot that I have left. I believe the Startech.com PCIUSB3S4 is perfect. Gives me USB 3.0 with just a normal boring PCI slot. Thanks for the links guys.

P.S. I only have 6 USB ports on this thing. I was considering building a gaming PC because of the lack of USB ports, but its all good now.

I got the part it and installed it, but it gave me a "Power surge on the USB port, Unknown USB devices needs more power than the port can supply".

I plugged in 1 device and my computer is not reading it. I tried installing the drivers for this adapter and it wasn't until then that I got the above message.

Sorry for the late reply. I took my time with plugging it in and I just plugged something into it and it worked!. No drivers needed for the installation. The only thing is my desktop is a little tight with all these cords, guess ill have to live with that :(. It's a Dell!, what can i say. Thank you guys for the help!.
