Hi guys, I own a ten year old "HCL" Brand PC. The configuration is as follows.
Motherboard : ASUS P5GD1-TML/S RAM : DDR1 133.5 Mhz 512 MB RAM.
Processor : Pentium 4 HT
Now the problem is I have not updated the BIOS for the long time and I can see "Phoenix BIOS" was installed by HCL. I searched the ASUS site for the bios, but I was not able to find P5GD1-TML/S mobo.Instead I found others such as P5GD1, P5GD1-VM and P5GD1-PRO. So what does that TML/S means? Can I install ASUS P5GD1 Bios or should I upgrade to latest version of Phoenix BIOS? If I should go with Phoenix BIOS, where can I download the update as there is no official site for Phoenix bios download?

Solution
This may be because the RAM chips are different. Its probably incompatibility between the two RAM chips. You can try the BIOS Update if you want but it probably wont make it work. But you can try if you like... :)

I understand your concern. But when I saw the bios update in ASUS forum, it said about improved compatibility for DIMM memory. And I am having problem with installing DDR1 400MHz 1GB RAM. Whenever I add this new RAM to existing 512 MB of DDR1 133.3MHz RAM, my system gets frozen. When I am just installing the new RAM module alone, the system gets frozen at the brand ("HCL") Logo screen, and post fails. With just the old RAM module alone installed, normal working of system is retained.
