I have bought a gaming PC with a 500gb SSD and a 1tb hdd. Where should I install Windows on?

Sorry, I was in a bit of a hurry; I should have explained.
If you have the hdd connected, windows will place a small hidden recovery partition on the hdd.
You will not ever be able to boot without the HDD connected.
In time, you may want to do something else with the HDD.
It is possible to fix that, but not easy.

Where games go is up to you.
Put what you use frequently on the ssd.
My usual advice is to omit a hard drive altogether and put everything on one large ssd.
I might suggest a 1tb ssd and omit the hard drive.
If or when you fill up the ssd, it is easy to add storage later.

I would.
The main reason for a HDD is the lower cost per gigabyte for storage.
In all other respects a ssd is better. It is faster, quieter, and more reliable.
It is also easier to manage a single C drive than to constantly decide where new things go.
