Where to place ram

i have 16gb of ddr4 2666mhz ram from corsair and im wondering, does it matter where i place the dual channel sticks? I know they shouldnt be placed next to each other but is there for example a benefit to placing them in slot 1 and 3 opposed to 2 and 4?

It really depends on the mobo. Some mobos you can place them right next to each other, some it's every other one from a left to right order etc... look up your mobo documentation. It should say it there.

Normally if the ram slots are colored "aka 2 black and 2 grey" then going by the color scheme should work. (aka only using the two blacks first)

It safer to check mobo documentation first though.

ok, ive checked around but im struggling to find anything, my mobo is Msi Z370 sli plus, can you help me find out?
