Hello. I want to replace one fan in my case and put in an RGB or ARGB one instead. I have an Asus RoG Maximus X Code Mobo and my current fan which is not RGB is plugged into one of the headers near the CPU. I'm not sure what the header is called but I took some pics.

Where would I need to plug in a fan with RGB for it to work?

Crap I dunno how to insert pics in here :(

Solution
Starting point is the User Guide/Manual for the system motherboard.

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...S_X_CODE/E13461_ROG_MAXIMUS_X_CODE_UM_WEB.pdf

[Confirm that I found the correct User Manual.]

Board layout and connections are on physically numbered Pages 1-2 and 1-3.

RGB headers: Pages 1-23 and 1-24.

Do read/review the entire User Manual before doing anything.

Pay attention to all fine print, warnings, notes, etc. Details matter.

Alright I took a look at the manual and it seems to me that I would only be able to get any kind of RGB or ARGB by plugging into the headers at the bottom of the mobo. The headers close by to the CPU are just for fans and such I I guess.

Yes.

If you google "RGB ARGB 3 pin 4 pin" you will find quite a number of links on the topic in general. And you can change the search criteria to narrow the focus as you read and learn.

What you must do before making RGB connections of any sort is to understand what headers, fans, etc. are available and/or being used for fan control.

Diagram out the connections showing headers, pins, fans - everything to ensure that a viable and workable configuration is indeed possible and safe.

And frankly, put the need for cooling ahead of the need for pretty lights and fine-tuned fan speed control etc..

Skip RGB completely if there is any doubt at all about the connectivity being used.
