I'm running XP pro and am still waiting for SP2. I've always had
Automatic Updates on. Has anyone been automatically updated yet??

Running Windows Update manually says that no updates are available.

Dan,

Not available yet via Windows Update / AU. But the huge Network Installer
SP2 package is already available for download:

Download details: Windows XP Service Pack 2:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=049c9dbe-3b8e-4f30-8245-e368d3cdb5a&DisplayLang=en

Note: This package is huge (>260MB). For a much smaller package, you should
wait for few more days (3-4) till it becomes available via the Windows
Update / Automatic Updates. This package is expected to be much smaller (say
100MB or so).

they're rolling out a zillion updates, but trying not to overload their
servers. it could be a month until you get the update, which is a good
thing because that means someone else's computer crashes from a bug they
didn't find. so just sit back and relax.

Greetings --

From Microsoft's TechNet Newsletter:

Microsoft has revised its plans to deliver
Windows XP SP2 through the Automatic Updates (AU) delivery mechanism
in Windows to give customers more time to plan the rollout of this
critical update, or temporarily block the download of Windows XP SP2
to those machines using AU.

Here is the revised delivery schedule of Windows XP
SP2:

8/16 - Release to Software Update Services.
8/18 - Release to Automatic Update for users running
Windows XP Home Edition only.
8/25 - Release to Automatic Update for all Windows
XP users including those running Windows XP Professional Edition;
release to Windows Update for interactive user installations.
