My hard drive won't boot up and I think the problem is the damaged circuit board. I've already bought a new one from the same model but it doesn't work. The hard drive will spin now but it's not recognized by my pc. I think I may have to swap the BIOS chip from the old PCB. Where is the BIOS chip located on the PCB? http:// http://

No, the original doesn't spin up the drive.

Thank you. I have ordered a new sata cable to connect the hard drive with the new PCB to my pc which is now running on an ssd. Recently I bought a new ssd for my pc, and started using the old WD hard drive as an external drive and I think it was the external case that damaged the PCB on the hard drive. Soon I'll let you know if the WDR tool worked for me. Thanks again.

I got a new PCB. The hard drive starts spinning now and I can hear the head searching for data for a short while and then it stops searching but the drive keeps spinning. I was hoping to fix the problem with the WDR tools but WDR 3.0 does not detect the hard drive with a new PCB. Do I need a different version of WDR tools?
