The 980ti will be better for games although it may not be a better value since it costs so much more. Both GPUs are way over-powered for 3d movies which don't require more than the most basic GPU.

If you have the money, the 980 Ti will be the best performer. Price/performance wise, the R9 390x might be a better deal. You can also look at the R9 Fury (non-X) for one that's in the middle.
