The bottom line is a need a new monitor. I have around $260 to spend and was looking at the Samsung 206bw, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001095&Tpk=206bw, or the HP w2007, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176078&Tpk=w2007. I looked at both of these in store and as far as i can tell they look the same picture-wise. While looked good, I had read that the samsung at one time suffered from outsourcing leading to the A, S panel monitor gamble, and the HP's base doesn't look or feel the strongest. Suggestions?

I have the same problem. I was told that if a pixels die on a 20" and over, they won't replace the monitor. There has to be something like 5 pixels in a row. Do you know if that's true? My choices are

20"
Samsung SS 206BW
LG L207wt

19"
LG L197wh

Have you heard of the 207wt series?

I'm deciding on the 20" samsung myself. One difference in those is the response time. The samsungs is 2 ms which is best for gaming. Hmm, appears the samsung isn't energy compliant?

That 206BW is at buy.com for 246 flat, free shipping and after rebate. But I do like dealing with newegg.

Ya, i was looking at the 206bw, but i'm sure you've heard of the whole panel lottery thing. I'm from greece, and chances are i would probably get the worst panels. That's why i'm hesitant in getting the samsung
