Which 30" monitor should I buy? One last time, thanks!

Hey Guys! I still don't know which 30" monitor to get. I'm leaning towards the LG but I don't want to get suckered into the Neweggg reviews again. Let me know I'm making a sound decision here. I use my PC for about everything including: gaming, movie/anime viewing, web browsing, some office stuff, and that's about all I can think of at the moment. Here are some links:

not worth it if ur using GTX275, but for wow or old dx9 games ull do just fine, maybe upgrade to 5870 sooner or later, when u need.

otherwise the LG is best for gaming.

i would disagree about it not being worth it, you just won't be able to play at max res easily, but you can keep the monitor for quite a long time

i would go with the lg one .while being a bit low on price , it does not compromise on panel quality or response time either .

Say do I need any special cable, connector, or dongle to get the monitor at max resolution? I just hope I can get it with my GTX 275.

Connectors should be the same, as long as your 275 can handle res which it should easily.

the lg package contains a dvi cable , use it and no problemo with 275 . use spyder3 for color calibration after you buy it .

So where does one get this spyder3 and how much does it cost? From what I've seen calibration software is expensive... = / What's the best calibration software out there?

check out http://spyder.datacolor.com/product-mc.php : you dont need anything more than spyder3express . its not just software , a colorimeter device too . spyder is the best company for this . will cost 69$ as per website . do post back when u've bought this monitor !

I used HP at the office, modest performance and good price...never tried for intense 3d gaming though...write us back after you choose one of them and how it perform...good luck!

Well I decided on the LG and should be getting it Monday!! I just hope I like it. I liked going from a 20" to a 25" Samsung LCD but the Samsung would have stuck pixels a lot. I would also like to see if the LG's response time is worth it and to see how well it'll play video.

Now I just WISH I could get that calibration software cheaper if not free!! But I figure if you were to get the software and don't have the colorimeter device it wont be worth it. Am I right? Is this software easy to use? Still debating if I should get it since I was watching some vid on youtube on monitor calibration with some software and colorimeter but it didn't seem to make a big difference. Granted this youtube quality video so you really can't tell lol.

Oh and if I can't run the game at max, what video card does everyone recommend? I see that ATI released some new cards recently but from what I was reading the performance wasn't as high as I was expecting. Should I wait till whenever Nvidia releases their new cards?

A 5870 is ideal for a 30" monitor. Either that or dual 5850's. Or wait a few weeks/months til the 59XX series launches and get one of those.

i would wait to look at every fermi series cards before shooting , 5800 will drop then , although not surely but definatily a bit because they are in short supply and overpriced now compared to their own price at launch .

keeping the future in mind , you would need lots of video memory for textures at 2560x1600 , and by fermi's time , even ati will have more meory versions . by the way , 2560x1600 is more than the cream limit of crt's most of which maxed out at 2048x1536 . talk about desktop real estate .
