Which 4890 manufacturer?

I've been looking at getting one of these three 4890's and wanted to know what you guys thought, I'm feeling the Asus or the Xfx.

Yea, but I don't think he really needs an insane overclock at the moment...And on top of that if he decides to xfire in the near future with another 4890 he will have MORE than enough horsepower for anything he throws at it....

I'm just giving you a suggestion, and remember don't go by the looks of a card, go by what the card can do for you.....

IMO, if a company gives you sketchy warranty, in the end it normally means there is a reason for that. After the 3 year period, if anything happens to that card you are doomed unless you have a money tree in your backyard and can easily buy a new one....

I would go with the XFX one because of the warranty.
Can I ask you a question? Where did you find Arctic TX-3? I want some but I cant find it anywhere.

I don't know how big of an issue sound is for you but I just got the Sapphire Vapor-X edition and aside from performing flawlessly (so far) it really is whisper quiet. I can't distinguish it from my 140mm case fans all the way up to around 50% fan speed and that's about as high as it ever goes if I leave it on auto.

I haven't really played with overclocking it since I'm not playing anything too demanding at the moment (TF2 mainly) but it's been running fine at 900/1100.

All 3 are good, its just a matter of taste and what the card can do for you......

Personally I have never had a Sapphire or Asus card, the only brands i have purchased are EVGA, XFX, BFG and HIS.....

That's what my 4870 did and it is the ONLY reason that I prematurely upgraded to a 4890 :pt1cable:

With my Sapphire 4870 512 (recently upgraded) I had zero fan issues. I have 4 fans on my case (in/ onto CPU 80mm and from front panel 120mm, out/ from of the video card and rear of case both 120mm) and no, they didn't drown it out, heh. With good airflow, I was able to set the fan manually at 40% and it never broke a sweat, even with heady overclocks (825/1025) on the stock cooling. All stock air, I was able to keep the GPU temps at 45c idle, 70c max underload, CPU at 25/38.

If someone tries to just toss in a 4870 as an upgrade to a mid level system, without any preparation for resultant heat (and really, good quiet fans are not expensive at all) they will experience the lion's roar as the beast cycles up at the drop of a hat, heh.

Having seen the vapor-x 4890 first hand in a friends rig, I was impressed with how cool and quiet it was. If I could have found them at the time (no stock anywhere online at the time I had the cash burning a hole in my account) I would probably have taken one of those over the 4870x2, but alas, I don't regret my choice. :D

Well, IMO the fan can be as loud as it want's to be...when you play a game even if you overclock the card, the game volume should be way louder than whatever noise is coming from your PC.....many peeps complain about the noise that a video card produces, I guess these peeps play their games w/o any volume whatsoever....

Now, if you are watching a movie, surfing, downloading, etc...the video card fan speed should be whisper quite at 0%. If your card makes too much noise at 0%, then its time to replace/RMA.

Have you looked at the Sapphire 4890 Toxic vapor-x. Reviewed here: www.guru3d.com/article/sapphire-toxic-hd-4890-vaporx-review You get a higher clocked card with an improved vapor-x design.

XFX has the best warranty hands down.

You can replace the tim, the cooler, the heatsink, and they'll fix it under warranty in the event you didn't up the voltage or break the pcb in half.

Lifetime no questions asked.
