Which 670 should I go with?

what type of games and resolutions will you likely be playing?

both look fine to me, ive never owned cards by either but;

evga have the better rep id imagine
galaxy 4gb has solid 5 star rating with 31 reviews

id probably go for the galaxy 4gb but would have to get some more input on the brand first

how long will it be before 2gb is not enough? honest question for community - at present skyrim and bf3 @ 1920x1080 with all eye candy can reach towards 1.5Gb, metro 2033 also I understand (I have the game but have never played it)

I play pretty much every type of game. I play at 1920x1080. After reading more about the cards, it seems the EVGA has better cooling, as it pushes the air out of the case, so I am kinda leaning towards that one now. It's still the vRAM that I am worried about. Most people say 4 GB is overkill right now, but I don't know what will happen once the next-gen consoles come out.

As for your VRAM, that 2 gigs should be enough for a while but, since your buying such a big card I would recommend getting 3Gigs because more VRAM can help big resolutions like yours, and espically if you decide to pick up two extra monitors later on.

And like you said, with the next gen systems more games may start getting more VRAM, and you'll be able to keep running that 670 for a very long time.

I think Galaxy is pretty good. I have never owned one but I have relatives who have had a pair over a year and it has performed well for them.

With the extra 2GB of ram on the Galaxy version I think you gotta go for it. Same price, why forfeit that extra ram?

I had a galaxy 220 once. It's was great but...I killed it because I OCed it way to high. This was before I new what I was doing until that it worked great and I have nothing against the company. Their stuff is a little bit cheaper so they're great for the price too!

gpus with fan designs like that run hotter and louder then aftermarket fans do. i would NOT recommend that type of card.

I would go with eVGA - I have used eVGA from 2006 starting with the 7800GT progressing to 8800GT's in SLI and my current GTX460 SLI set up. I have a Galaxy GTX460 in my son's computer which I bought because of its low price but it has removable fans which are incredibly noisy compared to the eVGA fans. Not sure what the set-up with the 670's is but if its similar to teh 460GTX then I would go with eVGA for sure. There is a saying . . . you get what you pay for.

I would go with the EVGA myself if you have no plans on overclocking just wanting something that works cools well and is reasonably quiet go with that. You will get the best customer support and warranty you can get from a graphic card manufacture from them.
Also there are other cards that are 4 gigabyte. Gigabyte has there Windforce 3 card that is 4 gigabytes as well as ASUS as well with there DCU II cards.

That makes the Asus 7% faster out the box than the EVGA SC, 6C cooler and almost 1/4 as loud under load (every 3 dBA is a doubling of sound level). The FTW is slightly faster than the SC, leaving the Asus model w/ just a 5% performance advantage

Well its a shame no one does EVGA but I think that is because EVGA doesn't do non reference cards you'll notice when they do there special water block cards on the high end cards they will though.

The top card is great because they cherry pick there chips meaning they are great overclockers.

Also, I like my gigabyte 670 but sometimes I wonder how the 670 by MSI is I know big has one. I like that it is a smaller profile then the gigabyte card and I'm sure the asus card. So it may be better in a more small case which is kind of the same thing the Zotac card benefits from.

Wait that ASUS was on full load?? I may just be in love. It's a tad bit expensive, but if it is really that quiet it would be worth it.

I can't imagine that fan getting any louder man 😛 My gigabyte card sounds the same under load really. The 600 series cards don't get very hot and most cards that are out now have thermal points where when they get over a certain point you start to see fan rampage going up. And because of how silent that fan is I can't imagine you hearing it till around 70 percent fan speed. So its very possible that it is always like that. Tomshardware in there article of the 670's said it was the quietest 670 they had tested. Also the black and red is sexy. Also, keep in mind you would get the same from a DCUII so you wouldn't necessary need to put out for A TOP card unless you had plans on overclocking seriously. In most cases the EVGA will fit the bill and then some because of how reliable EVGA is. But that being said ASUS definately has an appeal. I have this dream of pairing up a ASUS Card with there high end motherboards.

The next-gen consoles are going to have kind of pathetic graphics chips. By the time you need 4GB VRAM at 1080p the 670 will be woefully obsolete.

You will be fine with a 2 gigabyte card sir :) Unless you are doing something like Skyrim with heavy mods you will be fine with 2 gigabytes. And you will save a little bit in the process money wise by going down to 2 gigabytes. Games right now don't pull 2 gigabytes BF3 gets around 1.5-1.8.
