I currently have a EVGA 980ti SC with the backplate in my basket, its about what I can afford at £550, however, am I making the right choice? Its a shit load of money haha and I don't want to regret it.... Is there another gtx 980 ti worth waiting for? Im not really into overclocking, just want a crisp 1440p picture, at decent temps and NO COIL WHINE..... its more of an investment for me so im scared about making the wrong decision haha..... any help/ides or should I go for it and making the right choice?

thanks

I have an EVGA SC ACX 2.0 (With backplate) its a really nice card.

HOWEVER i would buy the MSI Gaming 6G if i could turn back the clock, as it has a custom PCB and will overclock better. Plus they include a backplate as standard the one you are considering buying is more expensive as it comes with a backplate (4995-KR vs 4993-KR)

Well i wouldn't spend lots of extra cash on overclocked models, stock ones should easily be overclockable if so desired. In saying that if it's only a couple of quid difference then go for an overclocked one. Only thing i'd consider paying a premium for would be an upgraded cooling system, i've no idea how quite the standard reference cooler is, i don't have 550quid spare to find out :) If it's quite and you're not going to overclock then just stick with a reference cooler model
