Hi,

I have been looking around the net, and I realize this is still in the early stages so might be an expensive proposition. I am looking at these monitors: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=210-AJGT - the 4k versions. My PC motherboard only supports a single graphics card, and the one I have is sub-standard. So if I bought 3 of those monitors I am curious to know if there is a reasonbly priced card for them? I have a feeling, after seeing another post on here about the true requirements to be able to run 4k, that this is not possible without spending thousands, but I thought I would ask.

Many thanks,

Nick.

Solution
You can find some good 32" 4k monitors in the $900 range that will do just as well for your needs like a BenQ BL3201PH. You are still ending up with at least a $130 card to have the right connections to run them. A 950 was the cheapest I saw.

for non gaming a gtx 950 with three DP connectors

for gaming, nothing right now can handle a single 4k monitor properly

You want to buy three $1250 (total $3750) displays and you want an "affordable" GPU to drive them? Something seems out of balance with your desired devices and needs.

What are you going to do with this system? What are the specs for the system that will drive all of this?

What budget amount do you feel is affordable?

Thanks for all of the replies. This is going to be a trading rig, so while I dont need gaming level GPU style rendering because the majority of trading applications are canonical GDI text out. I would like to get 60hz out of the solution if I could.

COLGeek, your point is valid. I saw another post that was citing costs in excess of $1-2k, upwards to $20k. Affordable then I guess is relative - to the cost of the monitors. I am not looking for a $200 card, nor am I looking for a $20k solution! 🙂

Thanks,

Nick.

Solution
to run 3 4k monitors for gaming isn't possible m for that being said , a gtx 1080 isn't capable to game on 4k the only option to run games in 4k is getting 2 gtx 1070s or 1080s NVidia only supports 2 way SLI so going 3-4 way SLI is out , to game on 3 4k monitors will be impossible using 2 gtx 1080s 2 gtx 1080s is only capable to game on just 1 4k monitor
