What am4 cpu would you recommend for a 7800xt that will not bottleneck? THat will not break the bank either.

What are the rest of your system specs? What monitor do you use? Make and model.

Holding on to the term 'bottleneck' as some reason to choose to be cautious can be a folly. Some games are more CPU limited, and others more GPU limited. Striking the perfect balance is nigh on impossible. But you can mitigate it with good choices.

In terms of a suitable CPU any of the Ryzen 7xxx/7800x3d would be a good bet. Edit: AM4, apologies. Get a 5800x3d. If you live close to a microcenter, they may still have the 5600x3d

Hello sorry.

It an asus b450f gaming. 16 gb 3200, 1080 and a 1440 monitor 120hz.

Its my grandsons. Just looking for simple upgrade for now. after watching many vids on comparing a 7800xt with a 5600x, 5700x and a 5800x it seems the better deal for a good gaming experience is the 5600x.

He currently has a 2600x and a 1660ti.

What do yall think?

Sorry again. We are spending 499 on the 7800xt so we are looking to not spend so much on a CPU like a 5800x3d.

What CPU cooler does the 2600x have already?

You may need to buy a new CPU cooler for a 5800x. The 5700x wouldn't need a high end cooler since it runs much cooler than the 5800x because it uses less power for very similar performance.

Ended up getting him the 7800xt and a 5800x along with a corsair h100i elite aio. Had to update the bios before installing the 5800x.

Update BIOS first.

Then 5600X3D or 5700X3D would be my choice. 5800X is kind useless for gaming, basically the same performance than 5600X but much more expensive.
