Which AMD processor is good for video editing and processing?

A FX-8120 or 8150, but this is a bad time to buy one, since Piledriver (the evolution of Bulldozer) will be released in a couple months (maybe as soon as mid October).

Edit: A higher end Phenom II X6 is good for that, as well, but they're not exactly easy to find (new, anyway).

If you are doing editing the FX 8120/8150. Despite a new line releasing relatively soon you will not get drastically different performance some would say 10% better but the FX 81XX are already fantastic performers in the multi threading department.

Yeah, as long as the video editing program and the video codec you use can take advantage of up to 8 cores, then the FX-8120 / 8150 are your best choice.

As for PileDriver, it is too early to say what the performance increase will be over Phenom II / FX. I will hazard to guess no more than 10% since that level of performance increase should not be too difficult to achieve... unless AMD screws up again.

Maybe he does and nobody mentioned 16 Opterons either. Then again this coulda been someone homework to see if some poor kid would actualy research video editing being able to use many cores and then find AMD opterons. LOL
