Two oldies:
FX-8350 and Asus M5A99X Motherboard
i7-870 and Asus P7P55D-E LX Motherboard

If you were limited to just those two, which would you choose?
The slower 870 has 4 cores and Hyper-threading, but the faster 8350 has 8 "crippled" cores.
Gaming at FHD 60Hz. Games are not mainly all shooters, but CPU intensive.
Graphics card is yet to be determined. Suggestions welcomed.
I know most of you will say save your money and buy something newer, but that isn't up to me.
Which would be the best old timer to build an everyday PC from that will also be capable to game with at FHD 60Hz?

Solution
Out of those two the amd is better plain as.

Assuming these are second hand and very cheap?

Gpu wise, rx 570/580, if buying new.
Easily best price performance and a good pairing with an old fx 8350.

Thanks guys. That was the way I was leaning too. But Since the i7-870 was "Intel" I thought maybe their superior IPC (if I'm using the right term) would make it faster than the FX-8350.

Yeah, the RX 580 sounds like a good idea. Thnx madmatt30. I see one on Newegg that is $160 for an 8GB version. What do you guys think about an RX 5600XT? Too much? Maybe the FX-8350 can be OC on that motherboard.
