Norton's not so bad; but,
Make sure you also get a Firewall program, in addition to the antivirus program. Most would agree you should get anti-malware protection, somehow (but, you can live with Windows Defender). Norton Internet Security has all 3 programs in the software package. I use it.
And, the antivirus/firewall programs all expire (1 year, usually), so you need to re-subscribe, they call it (or better yet, just get a new disk [I mean a new version] every year, just before the expiration date arrives.
It's not as much a security weakness to have a firewall that is about to expire, and then just use the Windows Firewall, IF (and only if) the computer has been receiving the latest Windows Updates.
With it being a new build [and new Windows Clean-Install), that leaves it at the state Windows 8 was "when your Windows disk was (stamped out and) created"]..all the Windows Updates (monthly) that have come out since the initial state of Windows 8 will be missing: most likely some fairly dangerous security holes (depending on how much surfing you do).
Get all 3. They call 'em a security suite, when you buy all 3, and they're usually cheaper than buying 3 separately; but, if you just use Windows Defender and the Windows Malicious Software Removal tool you can download off the Windows Updates--then you'll just need a good firewall to keep that babby sane.
Good luck
