Which Assasin build (Solo SP)?

Hi,

as I have collected a bunch of Assasin amulets and +skill GC, I'd like to
build one. But I only have very few decent claws. The unique ones I have
are Bartuc's, Firelizard and Jade Talons.

I also think I won't like Traps too much, so the build should focus on
Martial Arts and the Shadow disciplines.

Looking through the rpgforums.net, there are so many different builds that
it would take weeks to read (and understand the intricacies) them all.
Especially as I can only read the website in the morning, later on they get
so slow I can't bear it..

So, what is your favorite assasin build that can solo Hell diff?

Thanks,

Oliver

The trapper using lightning sentry, death sentry, and fire blast
is the build that can solo all of hell easily with stuff you
find yourself in SP (sorry, I know that isn't what you asked for).
However, you have a nice combo there with Bartuc's for the first equipped
claw and Jade talon for the second, so you might try some of the Claws of
Thunder/Phoenix Strike oriented builds and see how far you get.

The other thing I can add to that is that the best list for
builds is here:

That would be the Naked Assassine build courtesy of the N.A. mod.

Anex.....Explodeazon, ok, never got here past level 1. Admitting it.

i have a level 82 assassain in single player. i have trained her a bit
different but she can solo baal in 8 player mode with out to much hassale my
set up is
skills:
Tiger strike 20
Dragon Tail 20
Claw Mastery 15
Burst of Speed 5
Shadow Master 20
1 points in traps to get Death Centry
My items are:
Bartuc Talon
Delirium helm
Tiamats Sheild
Chain of Hounor armour
Sigons gloves/belt
Gore Rider boots
Maras ammy
and 2 crafted rings with life steal
this was not my first assy i had one first but did not like it so i started
it again
i use single claw as Tiger strike only uses 1 to hit with then i use the
kick. with this set up i have around 20K+ damage. i have a holy freeze merc
and my shadow i dont even need to do much killing as i drop DS and watch the
CE go off everywhere but when i wnt to have some fun i use the burst of
speed run in hit 3 times and kick 20k and it hits a raduis so i can kill 3
or 4 monsters in a kick she has to be one of my faverite characters
hope this helps

so, how do you deal with physical immunes? DT will convert the damage to
fire, but many monsters in Hell are fire immune?

Basically, this seems to be the skill setup I'm going to use. But I haven't
decided if I'll do double claw or claw/shield.

Oliver

Hello all,

Fire/physical immunes are a concern, yes.
That said, it is still quite viable to go along the above route, IF
you go either single claw or a big weapon.
IMHO, tiger strike is better with a big fast high damage weapon rather
than claw, it is rather equipment dependent.
Many people use a very fast phase blade. Tiger strike does not require
claws, nor does it get a benefit from dual wielding.
Due to its nature, it benefits most from high physical damage weapons.
Claws do not fall into this category.

BUT if you use dual claws, and don't like traps, Martial Arts is
likely the way to go:

A popular build is to max phoenix, dragon claw, and 2-3 of the
elemental skills (usually fire and lightning, or all), and use dual
Bartucs. Depending on points remaining, most people spend rest in claw
mastery/weapon block, and a little bit in burst of speed.
(i personally would put little in it as it has the worst returns of
nearly all assassin skills past the first few levels. It is great at
level 1, boosted by +skills items)
Actual physical damage on claws is not a matter of life and death as
these moves add +elemental damage, not a percentage damage increase
(Tiger Strike)

Pro's of dual claws:
(1) use weapon block - lower chance to block then shield but you can
block nearly anything including most spells (like fireball/meteor but
not novas)
Also your chance to block with this skill does not fall to 1/3 when
running.
(2) charge up twice as fast with all pure elemental skills (fists of
fire, claws of thunder, blades of ice)
(3) deal very nice damage with maxed dragon claw. Note that +elemental
damage from the elemental charge up skills is added to damage of each
claw (hence dealt twice, unlike the kicks), even though the elemental
explosion does not trigger twice.
(4) fire/physical immune is not really much of concern.

note that using two claws gives no speed/damage benefit to kick
finishing moves or to tiger/cobra/phoenix strikes.

It is really a personal preference. That said, unless you have Jade
Talons or some other interesting gear, it is likely that you will have
lower resistances than a claw/shield assassin.

P.S. A somewhat different (and expensive) build is the WW assassin. If
you want (and can afford it), you can try that... Should be fun for
both PvM or PvP. If you have Fal/Ohm/Um runes to spare, you can
consider it...

In all cases, i'd get an ice rogue, ice mage, or holy freeze merc.

Just rember that i use a SM she uses all traps and what ever charge up she
wants so she does deal to the PI with out to much hassel and then add a holy
frezze merc for some cold damage

rest of lines snipped

I agree entirely with your choice of merc, though defiance does have
many merits. SM is arguably the best summon in the game, but the
choice to use it is entirely up to the person building the character.
I find that SM dies badly to bosses unless it is reasonably high level
- which in no way negates what i said before (it is still the best
summon) 🙂

There are many ways to go with Martial Arts, but I think the
fundamental choice is on claw/shield vs dual claws, and the rest
follows. Choosing the former pretty much means the best/only boot
choice is Shadow Dancers (if you can get them). Choosing the latter
really makes it pointless to use Tiger Strike or ANY kick moves
whatsoever. I know from experience (or the lack of it at the time)
when i had a dual claw assassin with MAX Tiger Strike and using, of
all things, Dragon Flight. I could NOT kill cow groups, and was doing
much less damage than expected. Learned a lot though! 🙂

Personally, I think a Kicker with a point or 2 in Death Sentry is pretty
nice. Kick damage is based on Boots, but as long as you do decent damage
and have some Crushing Blow you're set. Get the first Corpse, throw out a
Death Sentry, and watch the fireworks.

PI's can be a problem though if there aren't any non_PI's around to make a
corpse out of.

A Phoenix Strike girl works as well, if you like can count charges :)

The kicker I started recently is planning to hold a Gimmershred,
at least on switch.

Alternatively, I traded an Um for a min damage Stormlash
(damage irrelevant to the kicker) and I'll try that too if
I reach level 82 or whatever that weapon requires (static field
plus lightning damage plus faster weapon might deal with
non LI PIs in about the same time).

I really like to get a big radius on DS, so I would give up
some venom points for that.

Yup, I don't like Venom anyway. DS/ShadowMaster/Maybe an Elemental attack
is where I'd put my free points. I can't stand having free skill points at
the end :)
