which asus strix 1080?

Solution
Do you want a higher "guaranteed" speed, for more of your money?
I went for the regular base clock and got better than the extreme ~1900 clock edition (for ~$70 less too)

It's a game of chance. It's really up to you. It's between a 5-8% increase in performance for about the same increase in base cost, or you can chance it for no difference in cost.

Just remember, it's only a chance of being able to get better if you don't pay for it up front. This is not to say the base edition is bad.

i went with the normal edition. much better than waiting an extra 2 WEEKS for this rando company "mikes computer shop" to send the higher oc version. not to mention i have seen absolutely terrible reviews from them. my house is probably an ambient 70 degrees. and my case is '
MasterBox 5 Black Mid-tower Computer Case with Internal Configuration - ATX, Micro ATX, and Mini ITX Support' think it'll boost high?

added on to the reply above ^ i also have 3 fans in my room because i like it cold in my room. 1 ceiling fan and 2 pedestal fans facing towards me and my pc. perhaps that would help with the temps?

is it true that cards are binned?

Yes. They're benched and binned, but that doesn't mean it can't perform higher. They may have not tested it as high as they could have, or it didn't quite make the threshold but can still do more than its price tag.

Silicone lottery is RNG as hell and sometimes you can get a low bin that works better than a top bin because your system handles the card different than the test rig or any number of factors really.

will the normal asus strix 1080 perform better than the founders edition? and even the other 1070s?

are you saying it will only be a little bit better than the other manufacturers or it will be worse.

1607mhz is 1607 MHz. Doesn't matter who builds or sells it.

What you want to look at is quality of construction, and the type of cooling solution. The fe sucks because it's cooling solution isn't good at all for high performance. Any 3 fan cooling solution should work, but I might note that Asus has some of the highest qc standards and from personal observation very low RMA issues.

Last few questions, I am a bit on the idiotic side. Do ALL asus strix 1080s have the same base clock and will the normal asus strix 1080 (1607-1733mhz) be able to boost higher that the advertised clock speeds.

There's three tiers of Asus Strix cards. They all have GPU Boost 3 which allows the card to self overclock. You can up the base clock to a higher number (which the boost then offsets higher too at the same amount, but from that number).

Not every card can overclock, but some can. It's a game of chance and it could be by a lot or by a little.

You more than likely will be able to add some overclock though.

not every card can overclock? that has to be a joke if i knew that I DEFO wouldn't have bought from asus

You're joking right? Did you read my post? You even quoted me saying it earlier.

This applies to any given piece of computer equipment capable of overclocking. It may or may not win the silicone lottery. This goes for ANY GPU, RAM, or CPU.

I told you all about it. Refer to my post.....

sorry 🙁

with Boost 3.0 I have never seen any 1080 not going above the boost clock.
they all reach around 1900-2100 MHz

thanks. thought i was getting screwed. i mean price wasnt a damn thing to me im already spending 3000cad on this crap i just have been waiting for 3 weeks after going through ibuypower and them screwing me over and then canceling from "mikes computer shop" i would've got the OC edition if it had prime shipping but of course only the lowest rated asus strix had prime.

Do I need to download some asus program to make boost 3.0 work?
