I currently am running a AMD Athlon 1900+ palamino core, and I am looking to up grade this processor to get some higher clock speeds. It is known that the palamino core doesn't OC worth [-peep-], so which processor should I buy? Barton 2500? or a thouroughbred core? All sugestions welcome and the most I want to spend is the $200 a barton 2500 will cost (but would like to spend less). I WILL be overclocking this processor with either my Volcano 9 or possibly a water cooling package. So what processor is my best bang for buck for OC'n?

Drive it like a rental!

I Would suggest the 2500+. I have mine @ 12.5 x 182 = 2275 with a Globalwin CAK-II 16 HSF. A 3000+ runs at 2.16, thats a $400 savings.

I would suggest a 1700 t-bred for 40-60 dollars.
with the money you save you can get a kick ass water cooler, and seriously some people have gotten this baby up to 3ghz, but thats rare. you should at least be able to hit 2.2-2.4 no problem with water cooling.

Long live ATI.

The best bang for buck is a XP1700+ T-bredB which OCs to 2.2GHz or higher in most cases. But if you want to take advantage of the 512KB L2 cache then the XP2500+ is a nice choice.

My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dims when I turn it on 😱

Personnaly, I think your AthlonXP 1900+ is still very nice to do everything you need (I guess?)
I would suggest you to save money and wait/looking for the future processor..such as Athlon64 or even the newer P4 that is coming out soon
