Hello, I have simple question for anyone with some knowledge. I have an Athlon X4 860K and I am thinking of getting an ASRock FM2A88M Extreme4+ Motherboard, but on the CPU support list it says it only supports this CPU from BIOS P2.40 or higher. I tried contacting ASRock but you need to have purchased a product from them to speak to an actual person. My question is, what BIOS version does this motherboard come with?
Thanks in advance any help appreciated!

I'm pretty sure it will run the processor, just not 'show it as its proper name' on the bios bootup screen. All the motherboard cares about is what speed FSB and multiplier setting. Worst case if it doesn't by default and you have to upgrade the bios, ANY AM2 or AM3/AM3+ processor you have sitting around or available temporarily should allow you to complete the bios upgrade.

Hey that is a FM2+ board btw so no AM2, AM3, or AM3+ cpu will work in it..

is there any way to know if you are getting an older or newer one?

o okay thats good news! but its FM2+ not AM2/AM3/AM3+

It might have the manufacture date on the box..

I managed to contact ASRock via Newegg, and they told me that P2.40 has been out since 2014, so chances are that it will come with that version. Furthermore they said that if it didn't, they would send me an updated BIOS chip, which was great news!

MY BAD gang!!! Utroz thank you so much for pointing that out!
