So people, which brand has the best BIOS layout? I understand that options in BIOS aren't the same through each SKU and each chipset, but there's a certain way brands like to design their BIOS - whether it be for B85 or for X99. So which layout do you find most intuitive and friendly, and not too saturated with uncomprehending features (although saturated comprehendable features are preferred)?

Another note,
If you were to choose between X99 R5E & MSI Gaming 9 ACK with BIOS only, who'd you give the edge and why?

Solution
Every BIOS is loaded with incomprehensible features. There are just too many setting for any of us to know what many of those do.

And almost every company's BIOS's have gotten much better over the years.

But having said that, I think Asus leads the pack.

layout? If you're considering the BIOS layout as the defining point on which board gets your money, then you need to think more about the things that matter.

Any UEFI BIOS (which is on every board more than $70) is easy to navigate b0ss, as long as both boards have the features you're looking for that shouldn't matter really.

I've used ASUS boards, MSI boards, both AMD/Intel boards, etc. and I can say that even if a BIOS is keyboard only I can still access the features of the board with around 3 minutes of searching.

Not to be that guy or anything, I understand that if you're spending a lot of money on a computer you want it to be amazing in all aspects, but judging a board based on a BIOS layout is strange. As long as everything works and is easy to access, I say go with whatever has better features.

How many BIOS's can upgrade the BIOS even without memory or CPU installed?

I call that an awesome feature, and Asus seems to be the only ones that have this, and they have had it for years now.

And that is just one of the things that sets their BIOS apart.

And now that I have said all that, and sound like a Asus fanboy, I have to admit... the motherboard in my case this time, is........................................................................................................................................................ An ASRock motherboard. Asus could not offer the features I found on this motherboard at anything even close to the price of this. So I ended up with my first ever ASRock Motherboard. And 14 months in, I love it.

No, not that I'm choosing a board on BIOS layout, but because I've run out of every type of comparisons 😛

About the upgrading BiOS without CPU/RAM installed, I guess GIGABYTE has this feature. But I guess MSI doesn't have? This could be a deal breaker for me really.

All I'm wanting is having all those granular controls in the most intuitive way.
