The 850w is only around 6-7£ more so I may just pick it up and yeh I did that at the start but I seems it's going over £1000 hopefully I'll see some price drops on Black Friday so I could have a 4670k and the 290x heck maybe even steamroller could catch my eye if a cpu matches or beats the 4670k.

Oh wow I'm stupid I heard it from somewhere but i don't even know if that was my head playing tricks on me anyways would you say the 4670k paired with a 290x would be good for next gen? How long do you think this build would last?

Yes; it would be good for next gen. As for how long it will last, I cannot tell. It really depends on the demands of games and how high of settings you care to play at. Some people don't mind lower settings, some want ultra everything. But it should be able to at least play future games for a few years. But don't quote me. I don't know what future games will have in store in terms of requirements. :)
