Which build should I go with

Solution
i would suggest the z97-k motherboard, its the cheapest of the z97 series but still a very good board and capable of "k" cpu. i use this myself with a i7-4790 and a gtx 980 and its superb.

and actually i don't totally agree with outlander_04 on the psu question. i would get at least a 600W psu. i'm not saying he's wrong, because the system will run fine with 450-500W psu, but if you are looking forward to overclock cpu and gpu you will need the more wattage and its always more safe to be over the requirements with a bit.

Yes with a GTX 970 4gb, and i5-4690k you will be very happy, because you can run any 2014-2015 and upcoming games even on ultra settings with 60fps on 1080p .
if you ask me, neither of them. i would not suggest to buy a 2gb vram graphics card in 2015. if you want to last at least a year with the system running games on high-ultra go for the 970, it worth the price. regarding the cpu the winner is clearly the 4690k.

Alright I changed the GPU and the CPU from the K. Only reason I had the K was because it was a few bucks more than the non K so I figured what the hell. Is there a motherboard you could recommend that wouldn't be much more and I could use with the K CPU for overclocking? Also, the reason I went with a bigger PSU is because when I was building it and asked for help a member on here said always go a little bigger on the PSU to compensate for future upgrades.

One more thing, do you think this build is capable of running most new games at high settings?
Thanks.

Solution
yes you will be able to overclock with this. note that this board has no support for sli, it has only 1x 3.0pciex16 so in case you want to upgrade to sli later choose something other, but if you are fine with 1 graphics card setup like myself, go for it !
